Rustic Soda Bread
Rustic Soda Bread is so easy to make you will be making it everyday. There is no need to let dough rise and I’m sure you have all ingredients in your cupboard now. I know you don’t believe me when I say it is so easy. Let me tell you it is just as delicious but don’t take my word for it. Try it!
Ingredients are as follow:
2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
3/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp sugar
1 cup buttermilk (don’t sweat it if you don’t have buttermilk, below I will give you alternatives)
In bowl combine dry ingredients, add buttermilk and mix until incorporated.
Knead on a lightly floured surface to form a ball.
I know that was a lot of work. Not 😉
Once dough is formed into ball put on pan you have sprinkled with flour, I like to use cornmeal for the added texture. Flatten top a little and cut an x about 1/2 inch deep.
Place in preheated 400 degree oven and bake for about 30 minutes or until nice golden brown in color.
Cool slightly before enjoying. 🙂
This makes a loaf perfect for two, if you want larger just double the recipe.
*Don’t sweat the small stuff, if you don’t have buttermilk make your own. Add 1 Tbsp vinegar to 1 cup milk and viola.
Don’t have vinegar just add regular milk. 🙂
